Please Help! New Duckling Owners...

I would not be bathing her, she's unstable and could accidently drown. Baby ducks should not be swimming for there first week, the reason for this is because they have not build up there oils to keep them afloat, so one second with your eyes off of her could end up being very tragic...

I would keep her away from the water until she is more stabled. Give one tablet of vitamin b complete per quart of water....

I think if you want to get to the bottom of the issue would be to go and see an avian vet. My duckling had a sore leg from being dropped, I took him to the vet and they did an X-ray to ensure it wasn't broken and gave me medication. The vet also said to try and minimise movement until rested. He was fine after about a week or two. I think a vet who specialises in birds will truly help. This is not to say this forum is unhelpful though.
They are both adorable!

Indyrun, She had an appointment with the vet but sadly Ducky passed away the night before her appointment.

Some people can't afford a vet, but yes your right if you can it would be wise. Yes, it surely does take a while for any leg injury to heal.. That's where vitamin b come in handy, it's less affordable then a vet and it's probably the best replacement thing you can do..

Yes vets are expensive, it cost over $300 when I took Wayan. It was rations for a while after that.

WOW, that's almost as bad as sending your cat or dog. The other hard part is there's not a whole lot of vets, that know how to treat ducks. Heck, I had a hard time finding one just for my guinea pigs. LOL So now I try to do what I can with what I have, I have an entire First aid kit to cover all my bases for just about anything that goes wrong. AND I have an online vet that kind of helps me along the way.. LOL Much MUCH MUCH cheaper. LOL

Wow, that's A LOT of money! We planned on taking Ducky to our local, small-town vet who does all sorts of animals (even farm animals). We're sad she passed in the night, but are somewhat thankful for not having to go through a traumatizing experience of having her put down.

Right now we are trying to get a friend for Scuba, but ducks sell fast here! Tractor Supply is supposed to get some in today, but they don't know the breed/species or gender...? Is that a thing? You'd think they would know what kind of ducks they ordered!
