I have oyster shell in there at all times for them its free choice. That's why I found it so strange that she had a soft egg and a completely shell less egg. I put it(oyster shell) in there back in Dec when they all started laying. I also give them Vitamins and Electrolytes in every other water fill up. Works out to be every other week. They also have ACV water always. They are all very health birds and besides an impacted crop this was the first time I have had any troubles with them. She was acting totally fine about an hour before. It hit her hard but now she is totally fine and laying like normal.Hello!
I have a hen who used to frequently act like she was about to die and then a few hours later pass an egg that was soft/deformed/ broken. The first time it was so severe that i actually had to retrieve a piece of membrane from inside of her vent that she wasn't able to pass even with a bath. What I found worked and what I am suggesting to you is to keep a stress free environment with lots of nutrition around and to supplement their diet with either dried and broken egg shells or oyster shells that you can find at your feed store. She's a beauty and hopfully this will resolve it self.
