please help not sure whats wrong with my hen??

I have a hen who used to frequently act like she was about to die and then a few hours later pass an egg that was soft/deformed/ broken. The first time it was so severe that i actually had to retrieve a piece of membrane from inside of her vent that she wasn't able to pass even with a bath. What I found worked and what I am suggesting to you is to keep a stress free environment with lots of nutrition around and to supplement their diet with either dried and broken egg shells or oyster shells that you can find at your feed store. She's a beauty and hopfully this will resolve it self.

I have oyster shell in there at all times for them its free choice. That's why I found it so strange that she had a soft egg and a completely shell less egg. I put it(oyster shell) in there back in Dec when they all started laying. I also give them Vitamins and Electrolytes in every other water fill up. Works out to be every other week. They also have ACV water always. They are all very health birds and besides an impacted crop this was the first time I have had any troubles with them. She was acting totally fine about an hour before. It hit her hard but now she is totally fine and laying like normal.

I was also going to recommend oyster shell. My leghorn has done similar things in the past, but oyster shell makes her feel better.

I know that a couple of my hens turn their noses up to oyster shells. Thats why I also add egg shells to thier diet. Your birds are lucky to be receiving all of the good attention that their getting. I might also add (because I have researched this a lot) that it can sometimes just be the layer herself.(meaning she gets kinks in her egg production system every once in a while that result in deformed eggs and an uncomfortable situation for the chicken) I understand that in your situationcleared up pretty fast. However with my hen it happened about once a month, inbetween those times she would continue to lay normal "healthy" eggs.
