My city told me to live trap and drown. >( Like, 7 years ago ya'll prosecuted a 90 year old lady for hitting a deer with a shovel and now you want me to drown raccoons on my property? Nuh-uh! Wish I had a recording of that conversation... Shooting is illegal here. So's hotwire and barbed wire.

We opted for exclusion. Chains and steel hardware and 2x4 beams over doors on all sections of our coop. They only come at night for me anyhow. You could lay down a dig guard on your fence too.
Hi, Chocolate Mouse. I believe your referring to an incident that happened in the Indian Hills developement, in Euclid, Ohio. The lady was in her latter seventies, was frightened when finding a fawn, and in shock she struck it. Although, that would seem to be simply a normal response, they took her in with handcuffs. She's a lively black lady who loves her flower beds and her garden .... but, tree huggers strike again.

But, in reply to your trapping and drowning ... in Cleveland, Euclid, Richmond Heights, Highland Heights, etc ..... that's fully legal. You are allowed to dispatch the vermin in any legal way. Discharging a firearm within city limits is illegal. Moreover, simply moving them violates Ohio state law, in that you're moving your problems and making them someone else's problems. Stab, drown, whatever ... simply don't use a firearm.

Four years of undergraduate work and three years of law school, simply to know how to legally kill those filthy raccoons.

I'm in south euclid. It's illegal here. 9_9; Drowning could be considered animal cruelty (it sure is for most animals) and it's waaaaaaaaaay too EZ to get in legal trouble with your neighbors. Not worth the time and effort.

I also have no problems with tree huggers, given that I am one, so....
