I have three eggs who are due to hatch in the next 24-48 hours. After I candled them last night they all looked as if they had pipped internally with some slight movement in the air sack. When I went out to check on them this afternoon to if any had popped externally one of the eggs looked way different! Did this way die or is it stuck in the air sack?! What should i do?! When I candle it the light part of the egg appears to be the air sack on the shadowy/dark spot on the egg looks like it still has veins. Mom appears to be very interested in the egg.

Hi, I accidentally mixed a duck egg in with a batch of chicken eggs. I have never hatched ducks bdefore and have some questions. It's day 29 and the egg is pipped. It has been pipped for over 36 hours with no progress. I opened the incubator to see if it was still alive, and it was. I can hear him peeping and see him breathing. Should I help it? I know that it is possible for it to hatch tonight but, Im not sure if it is stuck or if it is stll absorbing the yolk. I know that helping could result in a defect of some sort. It is the only egg in there right now, all of my other chicken eggs hatched last week. I would appriciate any comments. Thanks!

What you should do is leave the eggs alone.;)

If there appear to be veins, let it be. Sometimes intervening causes more harm than good. Another thing to remember is, not every batch will have a 100% hatch. Not even when you have a broody doing the hatching.

There is only a small hole so, I can't tell if there are veins. It keeps sticking it's beak out of the hole.

This is what the egg looks like right now. I can see its beak and it keeps moving its head up and down.
