They seem to be alright today, thanks! I only saw the one fall that one time yesterday. Maybe just a fluke? First pic is from 2 weeks ago, 2nd is from today. 5 ducks are 2 weeks old, 3 are 1 week. The one that was in its back is 2 weeks.

That is a dog in with them? how sweet. I am happy to hear they are okay It could have been a fluke maybe it got bumped? They are precious..

Yes, that's my dog. I wanted to introduce her to them early on. To be honest, I got them partly to keep her entertained during the day so she isn't lonely. She absolutely loves them. She was really upset when the one duck from the first batch died and was whining and trying to get my attention. I do think it must have been a fluke. One of them fell over while I was in its pen, but it was just startled and tried running quickly. It was able to right itself on its own, however. The one that died early on wasn't able to do that.

I hope you don't leave her alone with them though. Sorry you know your own dog but things can happen so fast.

Yes, I don't leave her alone with them. I'm just wanting to gradually introduce them to her. Hopefully when they're full grown, she can be outside with them. I'll see how she does then. Any hint of chasing them, and I'll have to make sure she's not around them unless I am right there. What I'd like is for her to watch them while I'm gardening in my yard, or to stick around their pen once in a while. It's pretty big, and occasionally cats come around. I don't know if a cat would chase a duck or not. My dog really likes them though and was so upset when the one died. She might think she's their mother! I'm teaching her to go check on them. It only took her 4 or 5 times to learn the word "duck." This way, I can have tell her to go check on them when I'm inside my house (she has a dog door to go outside).

Your going about it in a good way. Some dogs really respond in positive ways some just have to high a prey drive. Keep me updated on how it all goes.
