I have a hen thats sick. I let them out of the coop as normal, this one was still on the perch and last out but that's not unusual for her. I didn't notice anything odd until about 10 mins later she was sitting drinking and there was a large slimy poop hanging from her. Her wings are slightly down and seems to still be pushing something. She was still there a while later and was still all dirty so I washed her, dried her off and put her in a pen on her own. She still seems to be sticking her bum out oddly. She is about 6-7 years old, maybe more, I'm not sure really.
Any ideas what might be wrong with her?
thanks

Also she hasn't been properly laying this year, she doesnt normally lay much just a bout a dozen then goes broody. She has only layed a few eggs this year without shells but normally goes to her box every day to lay and has no luck laying anything. She is also in great condition, not skinny or anything.

You say she is approximately 6-7 years old? That's OLD in chicken years. Could be she has just reached the end of her productive life.

I don't mind if she's productive or not any more but she looks really uncomfortable, and seems to be pressing her bum out.

I put her in some warm water to try to clean her again and to try to sooth her a bit. Then for a while and she was trying to push something out, like she really wants rid of it. It's round, about the size of an egg but I don't think it is one.

It could very well be an egg she's trying to pass. Is there room to place your finger and actually tell if it feels like one?
