Please help, sick NH Red Rooster chick

I would be a big help to others if you could find the time to post exactly what you did, how often, how much of whatever you used. This way someone could look, at this one post and find all of the information about what worked for you and your bird. The roo not letting you pick him up is awesome news! I am so very glad for you and your bird.

We gave him the vitamin E every evening, squeezed from a 200 IU capsule meant for human consumption, tried to give him the whole thing but he probably only actually drank a third to half of the contents the rest gets spilled on his beak or my fingers. Then we gave him a few drops of poly vi sol 3 times daily, morning, mid day, and before bed. We put Sav a Chick electrolyte mix in the water. The first few days when he was real bad off and upside down we were making a mash of his food and feeding him by hand from a spoon but once he started being able to pick his head up on his own he started eating and drinking right away.

Also to help others my bird has wry neck too and had her head tucked between her legs and walked backwards also. I did the same vitamin treatment vitamin E selenium vitamin B and liquid polyvisol without iron however I did one more step
I followed Alan Stanford's treatment for wry neck you see my bird is a silkie and sometimes wry neck in silkies and polish are caused by brain injure and brain swelling.so I also incorporated predinsone into the treatment. Given the way Alan Stanford suggests and my bird thank God is now lifting her head and on the road to recovery.I know predinsone can be controversial because its a steroid. however if brain swelling is suspected or involved it does work wonders! Thank God my bird responded well with the drug and I will be slowly weening her off it next week.its something you can't just abruptly stop it must be weened off. But for those out there that vitamins alone are not working and espically those with silkies or polish birds I highly recommend this treatment. You can find exact doses by looking up Alan Stanford's treatment for wry neck.his website is browneggblueegg.com once you go there on the left side is a glossery click on crook neck and the entire treatment plan is there with exact schedules and how to incorporate the medication. It is a very successful treatment especially if you have silkies who are prone to brain injury. I just wanted to share this to help others who might need this treatment for wry neck.I hope you don't mind me sharing it. there are different causes for wry neck injure to the brain is one especially if the bird is a silkie or polish. I really hope this helps someone else and thank you for letting me share it.it has been successfull for my silkie thank God! and hopefully this can help someone else. Best wishes
