Please help! Sick silkie and seems to be progressing quick! What should I do?

How long can she go without eating? She didnt have enough of the mush tonight for me to even consider her getting any nutrients. With plenty of water and polyvisol, how long can she hold on that? Should I try yolks again but in smaller doses and more runny with water?

How often can I give her polyvisol?

Would vetRx help at all with her breathing?

You have been giving some food with a syringe(am i correct on this)so she has been receiving some food, normally if not eating at all you would tube feed. For polyvisol give her 2 drops a day. Have you tried giving her plain probiotic yogurt, chickens love this, mix a bit in with her feed or give to her on a plastic spoon. Try the eggs again, scramble then up. Check her crop in morning before she has had anything to eat,you are checking to make sure it is empty. I have not used vetRX so cannot say whether it works or not,you could try it.

Well any raw eggs I syringe fed her today I think came up every time when she sneezed/puked it up so I think its safe to say she went all day without food.

I tried plain greek yogurt today, that is all I had, and she pecked at it once. She didnt actually swallow any just pecked it enough to get a taste. I will try more things tomorrow and hopefully she is feeling better. She seems to want to eat but just struggles doing so and cant keep it down. Maybe I can try syringing some baby food into her if she denies anything solid tomorrow.

Well off to bed, I got a lot of water in her so now I will give her a solid 6-8 hours of peace and hopefully pull through and gain some strength. I did give her another drop or 2 of the polyvisol before you responded so hopefully that doesnt have adverse effects.

Thanks so much again for all your help! I love this girl too much to lose her!

Give her cooked scrambled eggs, scramble in a bowl, microwave, scramble again give to her warm. Polyvisol amount you gave her is fine.

Ok, that will be first thing tomorrow morning!

Just wanted to share the picture I took of Nancy the moment I brought her home. How can someone not fall in love with her after looking at her?! I swear she is looking into my soul with those eyes. Hehe

War chicken, why Cipro instead of Baytril 10%? FYI, Clavamox is available from aquaticpharmacy.com.

You get about 10 times more medication for the money and a shelf-life of decades.

While I'm no fan of PayPal/eBay, it's good for pseudo-emergencies since the item is pretty much guaranteed to be in stock and shipped the same or next business day. And if you buy from someone geographically close to you, it can be there in 1-3 days.

With regular online stores, they might not have the item in stock or get around to shipping it for several days.

12 hours later and not any better. I wouldnt say she is worse but she has more weird habits going on, she does more opening and closing of her mouth quickly like she is tasting something. Wouldnt eat the scrambled eggs. Got a tiny bit of egg yolk in her.

She seems to do better outside and enjoys our trips outside together. She wants so badly to be with the other girls but it is obvious to them that she is sick and so the feelings arent mutual. Poor thing. I was proud of her when I saw her recognize water in a leaf and walk over and drank it. I brought over a bowl of water and she took 3 drinks on her own. She seems to understand things better when she is outside in her normal world. She attempts to eat more out there but isnt succesful.

She did do some big sneezes before I brought her inside again and she didnt throw up anything but some clear bubbles were oozing out of her mouth afterwards. She did attempt to go to the bathroom and all that came out was a small amount of light yellow, milky slime.

I didnt see this post until just now. I havent ordered anything yet because I didnt know what I should go for. So buy what you suggested in your first post?

War chicken, so how would one give the proper dose of cipro to a small chicken (10-40mg/kg). 'Cause the pills are 250 and 500, right?
