Please help/some questions on racing homer pigeons

I do have some questions.I plan on getting them from strombergs as adults obviously. In most cases adult birds would have to be kept prisoner in your loft for the rest of their lives. But will they fly back to were they were raised? Yes. What if I keep them in the small coop for a week will they learn that thats there new home? If they are young squeaker birds that have never been released yes. What should I feed them? Grower pellets with a mixture of corn is my basic staple I do mix in barely a bit of rabbit pellets in the winter months How are tumbler-roller pigeons like? Do you let your fly around and they return to coop at night? Yes or sometime fanciers have kit boxes (not too familiar with tumblers.) What would be an overall good pigeon for a begginer? I have white homers that I release at weddings.
