Please help! Unexpectedly broody!

Was just thinking back....first time I moved a broody I did it during the day, she spent about 4 hours pacing the wire wall then went to the new nest.

Second time, broody tried to climb the wire wall and fly thru it.
I put her back in main coop, moved her over after dark, no muss very little fuss.
Chickens are so 'stupid' and easy to handle in the dark. :D

Hey Aart- Well I thought about doing it after dark- i recall you said you always got yours after dark to sell in Am- but I wasnt sure what Brewster (our rooster) would do- thought he may attack me LOL so I gave them some strawberry tops in the big spare pen so they all left and I could lock them in there a bit and set her up in her nursery without an audience.
It went well i think. I left for about an hour- and when I went back to visit, she is back on her "eggs" (in the new carboard nest box)in pancake mode, and the rest of them were starting to roost.
So, I guess I will collect some eggs over the next fews days!!!! see how it goes!

I regularly handle my birds after dark, including the cockbird, so they get used to being disturbed and learn to be calmed by my voice.
It's good habit for both keeper and birds IMO.

yes, I agree that does sound like a good idea, although, with bedtime routines with the kids..I'm too tired (and dont like the idea of bundling up again) :idunno
