Today I let our sweet 8 ladies out and went inside but two hours later went out with the family to feed them treats and we noticed Eliose not moving she just sat for 20 minutes. When i went to pick her up she rolled to her side and I needed to roll her back. After spending time working with her I got her to take a few steps but was off balanced and fell to her left twice. She settled back down amd couldn’t move when I was calling the girls in the coop. I carried her around a bit and then set her up in the nesting box and feed her some water.
What could this be??? We are so worried for her?? Any suggestions are appreciated.
thanks in advance. Xx Jen

Sorry about your hen. Yes, it would be a good idea to separate her in a basket inside, or in a dog crate out in the coop with food and water within her reach. I would offer some water up to her beak, and electrolytes would be good as well. If you can get Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell, give her a few drops of that up to 2 ml daily. Try to get her eating something as well. Scrambled egg or tuna along with some wet chicken feed.

How old is Eloise? Has she laid eggs recently? Poop pictures are welcome if they are not normal ones. Check her crop to feel if it is empty, full, soft and puffy or hard or doughy. Checking it in early morning at daylight is best when it should be empty. Look her over for mites and lice on her skin. Feel of her lower belly to see if it is enlarged spongy, or tight and full. Make sure that she is warm and not chilling. Let us know what you find.

What are her other symptoms? Runny poo?
I went out at 6:45 am the next morning to check in her and wait for the vet to open and she had passed. It was a very sad day for our family it was our first pet we have ever lost. We gave her a lively ceremony and cleaned out the coop and added apple vinegar to the water for the other ladies. The last few days the reat of our flock seems to be great but did notice runny poop today from my Barred Rock what is that a sign for? Thanks again for getting back to me. Xx Jen

thank you so much for this reply. We wokenup early the next morning and she had passed. It was a very sadday for our family as she was our forst chicken to loose we bought all 8 of them a year ago. We gave her a nice ceremony and cleaned out the coop, added a bit of apple coder vinegar to the water and have been watching the other 7 very closely. Praying none of them get whatever ahe might have had. I did notice today odd runny almost green poop today from one of my chickens is that the start to something I should be concerned with? Any suggestions what it could have been? Thank you for all your help. Xx Jen

Very sorry for your loss. How old was she and your other hens? Can you get a picture of the runny green poop? There are normal and cecal poops, the shiny, stinky, and pudding like poops they have every so often. Green poops can be a sign they are not eating well.
