I have a 4-5 month old BLRW, started walking like this all of a sudden 2 days ago. I see no other symptoms of illness, just this gait disturbance. I see no obvious trauma to his leg, I can't figure out what is wrong with him? What should I do? Here is a video, it is about one minute and 30 seconds long, he is walking alot at the end, thanks for any guidance..

This is for the same site...but different pages.......also investigate slipped tendon on the hock joint......hope these things help..

Thank you so much, I was wondering if it was his hip, I really appreciate it!

He is still the same, it is definitely an injury. He does not have bumblefoot, but I think he has a hip or leg injury. If I pick him up and move the leg he squaks in pain! I need some help, I can't handle this one alone. I am deciding whether to take him to the vet or call my friend. Thanks so much for asking and for your input! Merry Christmas!

(This is his wife, lol)

AW MAN, I am sorry you are going thru this.....does your friend have animal knowledge? I hope you have an avian vet available to you as well. My prayers to you and your baby....

The link in my signature has a lot of info on leg issues.

I personally have found most leg injuries in my flock have been sprains/strains. A week in a small cage usually gives them the rest they need to heal. I just put a towel down for them to sleep on. Put him in a quiet place and do not mess with him unless you have to. He will be very unhappy during this time. My sweet little roo gave me a nasty bite before he walked away at the end of the week.....but he was able to walk away.
