Please help with sick peacock

I would also suggest cleaning of her eye and gently try to "milk" some of the pus out.

That is a really good suggestion especially when you already have oozing pus. We have used saline solution and Q-tips to wash the pocket out and Neosporin without the pain reliever.

Kathy, was it Yoda that suggested injecting the sinus directly? I don't remember but I did that with three turkeys and it worked great, I haven't done it yet to a pea. I gave only 1/2cc in the sinus and the other half under the skin.

Quote: I think Yoda did say that. I've only had the one chick with the sinus infection and it was treated with Baytril. Treating with Tylan is something I did once on a chicken, so I can't really recommend anything based from my experience with it.

If it were mine, I would probably give 0.05 ml Tylan 50 per pound orally twice a day.

1 pound bird - 0.5ml twice a day
2 pound bird - 1 ml twice a day
3 pound bird - 1.5 ml twice a day
4 pound bird - 2 ml twice a day
5 pound bird - 2.5 ml twice a day
6 pound bird - 3 ml twice a day
7 pound bird - 3.5 ml twice a day
8 pound bird - 4 ml twice a day
9 pound bird - 4.5 ml twice a day

The numbers above should work out to 50 mg per pound per day which is what the Tylan website recommends for treating mycoplasma in chickens.

As always, please check my math!
