I have my chickens under a tree and the ground is moist and these worms are coming up from the ground where I have my chickens at. There ugly short shubby worms brownish color. How do I get rid of them without harming my chickens???

THANKS,

Hi,

No, yesterday I got a worm and put it by them. The chicken put it to the side with it's beck. The worm dig itself into ground. It looked like the chicken was playing with the worm instead of killing it.

Here is a picture of worm there are a lot of them.

Thanks

Those appear to be "cut worms" a larval stage of many moth species that loves to feed on roots or tender young seedlings. Best way to eradicate them is to dig and squash, they don't surface normally so DE will likely not work and you sure don't want to use a poison since your chickens are in the area. If you had ducks they would most likely be eaten like candy.

Here is a bit about them from wiki "Cutworms are notorious agricultural and garden pests. They are voracious leaf, bud, and stem feeders and can destroy entire plants. They get their name from their habit of "cutting" off a seedling at ground level by chewing through the stem. Some species are subterranean and eat roots."

Hi,

My chickens kick out food with there feet and it ends up on the ground. Sparrows birds get in there and do the same. I don't know how to keep the bids out of there.

How can I make my coop better...
