I noticed over the weekend my hen refused to jump into the coop like she always has...
when I picked her up, I noticed her crop was fat and squishy... I read some articles online about how to clear a crop.. and everything went well. This was Friday into Saturday , I figured after that she would be feeling better .... I can feel her bone that runs down her chest, and she seems very light compared to my other girls. She is eating, pooping, drinking. (Not as much as I’d like?) but still.
Her backend is covered in poop. I have to keep washing her off.... she is very lethargic, she just stands around, more puffed out than I’ve ever seen her. Neck tucked in. If I try to encourage her to move? She falls over, uses her wings to pick herself back up... I’ve tried everything from different articles and I’ve done so much research but I’m just lost at this point. No eggs, doesn’t want to be in the coop with the other girls, but will follow them around and eat (but would just rather be alone) I currently have her in my homemade “hospital” because I feel like she can’t get warm enough outside... But she’s been like this for days now and nothing is changing..... please.. any ideas? Thank you.

I'm getting the sense that your hen has something much more serious going on that just sour crop. Possibly cancer.

The thing about chickens is they can have cancer for a long time and not show it. This can strike young hens as well as old ones, but if your hen is older, it's more likely.

This is just a guess from your description of her behavior. It may not be correct. When I have a sick hen, and yours sounds very sick, I try an antibiotic just on the outside chance it could make a difference. If you have any on hand, it would be worth it to give it a try.

Also, sour crop will not go away on its own, generally. Yeast colonizes slow crops and the best way to cure it is with an anti-yeast med such as miconazole, a vaginal yeast cream found with the tampons at the market. This will make your hen much more comfortable to get the yeast under control.

Be aware though that using an antibiotic may work at cross purposes with an anti-yeast med, so giving acidophilus tablets during this treatment may help counter that effect.
