I got this muscovy to be friends with my cayuga duck who lost her partner didn’t know if it’s a male or female I still don’t, although I have a very good idea, but I need definitive identification as this duck has become obsessed with one particular chicken of mine, I also have video I can send someone if they need better look. Not sure if age but approximately 4-6months old

The bird is a Muscovy drake. He 'speaks' a foreign language to your Cayuga - she needs a mallard derived friend. He is probably trying to breed your hen and may injure/kill her. Drakes have penises - roosters do not. Drakes breeding chicken hens is a disaster waiting to happen.

Am aware that drakes can/will kill a chicken trying to breed that is why I am desperate to positively identify the sex.. because he/she has become obsessed OBSESSED with one of my hens so if it is a male I will be needing to rehome him immediately. I didn’t have any issues with my last drake the one who passed away🥲. I only got a muscovy because it was the only thing I could find after my boy passed and my girl was incredibly lonely or trust me I would have got any other breed knowing Muscovy’s are much different. Thank you for replying and telling me it is a male 🥲

Too bad you aren't closer (at least I assume you aren't!) or I'd take him. Very pretty boy.
Well, considering reading your name is Canadian wind, i’m guessing you’re in Canada lol right now we are in Georgia❤️. I don’t understand a joke about the bard gene.lol I just want him to have a happy home.❤️

Yes, very much in Canada, so a bit of a drive! ;) Plus there's that pesky border.

Barred is a pattern of the feathers, it's what gives yours u those white lines. I've been known to drool over colours and patterns I don't have and jokingly threaten to go steal a duck! lol! I'm limited in what I can get in Canada unfortunately.
