I just got home with 5 new pharoah quail hens I put them in with the other hens everyone seems fine but I noticed a "tumor" looking thing on one of my hens feet, I now do not know if its a new one or old. Should I Cull it out or will she be ok? It almost looks like a REALLY bad blood blister but there are 2 on one leg she is acting fine not any signs of illness. What to do???

Hrm.... Not sure about your problem, but wanted to complement you on your name

I had the same thing on my valley quail when I brought them home..they were housed in a grainery with shavings on the floor, but it didnt look like it had been cleaned out much, just new stuff over the top..so anyway after they ran in my pen, which is 7X14 on gravel, the tumor like things fell off after 3-4 weeks,I think they where actually junk compacted on the toes that just kept building up over time,,mine had a couple on each foot..all is fine now and they havent come back..

What is the bottom of their pen made of? A friend of mine said one of her hens had a bump on her foot, and she thought it was due to them being on wire all the time. She put a piece of cardboard or something in the cage and it went away.

I really hated to do it but I got rid of her:( I want to keep a good flock without any " Illness". The tumor thing was on top of her foot not on the bottom it was for sure something wrong. Anyway thanks for the info.
