Okay, lemme start from the beginning, that's a good place to start.
It all started sometime around the early spring when my mother and I were outside, enjoying our chickens. We watched our girls and then we heard an alien noise. At first we were rather frightened, it came from our neighbors yard.
We had no clue what it was. We thought maybe, it was one of their children. They had small children and kids make weird noises. Anyway, over the next few weeks we heard this same noise and our friend was over when he proclaimed, "That's a rooster." A rooster?
As far as we knew, our family and my aunt next door were the only members in our neighborhood with live stock. She with ducks, us with chickens. We peeked into the next yard and noticed something moving in one of the children's play houses. A rooster.
A few weeks later, the rooster was gone. Now, not too long ago in the same yard we saw that our neighbors had chicks! We were shocked to say the least. At first, I was very angry they didn't seem to have adequate housing, but then again my mother and I spoil our girls to pieces, they get the best of everything!
A couple of days ago they got a nice sized run, put some shade--a roof---on top and nice water and food for them. We were going to let it slide. But then we noticed that one of the chickens legs were splayed, rather badly! My aunt, who has always loved birds, took action. She had rehabilitated birds ever since I could remember and offered to my neighbors to take the bird.
My neighbord agreed.
So tonight, my aunt came in and these poor little babies terrible!
One of them have legs splayed out to the poitn where they look like _____{chickens body}___ they're like on a 90 degree angle! The poor guy's toes are all in different directions. And the little two week old baby has one foot that curls beneath him and the other leg it's like it's knee is bent the wrong way. So the bottom of the foot if up.
The poor things.
We want to know if there's anything we can do. Any natural cures? Or are these poor things going to be doomed to be put to sleep?
