please help :-(

I never saw what type of quail you are talking about? If it is Button quail they should be in pairs and if courtnex 1 males to 2-3 females. so the trouble is too many males to females and they have injured the female by overbreeding her. Glad to hear you are separating them. Try 2 single pairs in separate cages and the lone male. Although he will not be happy. and like I say it depends on type of quail. good luck.

Thank you. They are courtnex quails. As they were the last 5, I didn't have a choice what sex they were. I'm glad there Is a way to resolve this, thank you :)

Even having the males in separate cages will be a nuisance because they will become exceedingly loud without access to females and will crow all day and all night long.

I had an injured male that I removed from a cage that had one too many males in it. Though he was healing in a separate cage, he drove us nuts crowing to the females. All day...all night for a week until finally, I declared him to be healed and put him in a cage with one female. He went back to a normal amount of crowing. When that hen became egg bound and died, he started again until I assigned a new hen to his cage.

Yes they are all crowing! I am confused as the injured "female" is also crowing. She/he is a very dark colour as opposed to the regular courtnex's. Not really sure where to go from here

Please excuse the injury, but this is his/her colouring. Is this a diff breed?

If it's crowing I'd say it's definitely a male.
Looks like a tuxedo... range or Tibetan? I'm not super familiar with the color variants, I only have wild browns and an A&M. Tuxedos are harder to tell by appearance I've heard.
Cheers,
Jessie

And that would explain why they turned on him, being 3 boys together. Oh man! Looks like I just have 1 girl! Thank you :)

The best thing that you could do is to start hatching or get a few hens from someone else. Good luck! I am low on hens right now, but I have been able to put one aging male in with a younger male. It isn't ideal, but I am expecting hatching eggs in the mail any day!
