On Tuesday morning my dad found my D'anver bantam chicken passed out on the floor. The next couple of days her health has slowly gotten worse . She can no longer walk, move her wings and feet and has no control of legs when walking. There is no swollenness and cant feel any broken bones. I really don't know what to do!! she is only little and hasn't started laying yet. If taken to the vets she will be put down but I want to give her a fighting chance!

Please help, her sisters

will miss her dearly if she goes

if you would like a video of her attempting to walk please say so. thank you!

Okay lets go through a few things. Has your chicken been vaccinated for mereks? Has she gotten into any castor beans? Castor lpants rea really tall looking tropical plants that have red fuzzy ball like seed pods. This sounds like a neurological issue, and something has set it off. Poisoning o mereks, we just need to figure out which. Does she have access to your garden or a rat bait???

Are you feeding her with a dropper. There are suppliments you can give her with a dropper like nutria drench. If you don't have access to that, at least get some Gatorade pedalite or even an infant formula even of worse comes to worse. Wrap her in a towel, and let her take the drop of water, don't force it in her mouth she will aspirate it. Sorry for typos I am going as fast I can to help get you as much info as I can. I have been thorhg this numersous times. I haven't always had them pull through, but I have more times than not so don't give up hope. If hse isn't walking now though, we only have a couple days to figure it out. Can you listen to her lungs> Does she sound congested Ucky question for you. What does her poo look like?

All of our four chickens have got access to the garden however they have only just been let out recently (last 3 weeks) as they we have had them for 4 weeks now except for one which we have had for years... We are against any poisoning so no rat baiting or tropical pants. The four chickens live with 2 male rabbits and they share the garden, we also have other pets but only occasionally go out in the garden. I am trying to upload a video if it works. They are all very looked well looked after.

I don't have access to any of those as I'm not a serious chicken owner. She is eating and drinking on her own thankfully. She is in bed now though as it is getting dark here. What is Mereks? We have never had this before with any of our chickens? Also her poos are getting more watery, at the beginning they were solid! We also don't live really so we don't have a specialist bird vet near us!:(

there is much more information about mereks on this site too, but the one above quickly gets into the leg paralysis
and what is most concerning here. Check out the eyes of your chicken, It shows you what to look for. Keep checking on the eyes too. Can you hear congestion? Any watering of the eyes or nostrils.

Ok, didn't think to check the eyes. will check first thing in the morning. does it spread so will my other chickens be at risk?

Thank you for your help it has been very helpful!
Also unfortunately the video wont upload

You will want to isolate her until you know what she has, keeping other chickens away from her poo and dander and water would be a good idea.
