please help!

today i was trying to round up my chickens and get them to go inside the coop (had a party to go to) and i always through things around the chickens to get them scared and make them run inside there coop. well today it went horribly wrong! one chicken just wouldnt go in so i through a stick by her and she ran right infront of it... it hit her head and she acts kinda wobbily. she walks around but acts dizzy. the bleeding stopped and i finaly stopped crying about i what i had done. so i put her inside a seperate coop and put some fresh bedding, and water in there for her and i will check on her again in the morning. is there anything i can do for her and has anything like this happened to one of you guys? i feel terrible and cry everytime i talk about it. i will do whatever it takes to keep her alive.

Sorry about your hen. I have no advice about treatment but I can give you some advice about getting them in the coop when you want them to go in. I use scratch or other treats and ALWAYS call the chickens to" here chick chick". So if I have to leave in the middle of the day and want them to go in the coop, I throw the treats in the coop and call them. It is a learned response to come to the call. Then I just shut the door behind them. I hope this helps and that your hen gets better soon.

I would put something like a heat lamp in there for her if it gets cold at night where you are. I have found the best way to get chickens into the coop is to throw a little scratch to them and then sort of make a little trail into the coop. Once they are close to the door, I usually throw a big handful into the coop and they go running to it. Then I close 'em in. Anyway, that works for me.

ETA: I like the other poster's idea of training them to come. Why didn't I think of that!

Oooh! How awful! I'm so sorry this happened to you; I know you didn't mean for it to happen.

Just wondering... Where was she bleeding from? I'm trying to figure out if she was just cut or if she had internal injuries somehow.

She may be traumatized by this incident and very afraid of you now. Animals are like that. Be kind and gentle with her and go slowly when you take care of her so that she doesn't feel any additional threat.

Keeping her calm is the right thing to do as you assess what, if anything, is wrong. She may just be stunned (ever run into a glass wall?). Keep a close eye on her and let usknow how she is tomorrow!

anyway the vet came today to look at a sick cow and i told him about my hen. he said she was probably hit on the side of the head and will walk around dizzy for a few days and then should be back to normal. but her poop is green and runny. what dose this mean?!

she is doing WAY better! i let her back in with the big chickens all though i think she will have to earn her place in the flock again though. and she still walks kinda dizzy like but for the most part she is good.
