We had an old barn on our property that was in bad looking condition, but actually just needed to be redone, but when the insurance company decided to tell us either take it down or revamp it (we didn't like where it was at, low spot, former owners didn't care what their animals stood in . . .) DH (and on this story, I don't mean DEAR) decided after we cleaned it out and took down one side of it, he would just burn it down.
Neighbors are fireman, and they offered to have the FD stand by, just in case, but NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo, DH said he had it all under control.
Uh-huh, he started it, and remember this is a 40+ year old building, very little wood left to be honest, but what was left was dry as a bone . . .wind shifted, and melted off part of the back of our BRAND NEW siding we just contracted a crooked contractor to put on . . . and then had to go around and pick up almost $5000 worth of bad checks he wrote (put the tickets in DH name . . . told him to get receipts, but NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo, he was o.k, and give him a chance
) and then had to turn around and pay another guy to come and replace the siding. Thank God we had a square or two left, or we would have been up the creek with no paddle. I took pictures of the entire inferno, and for show and tell last year, our 8 year old took them. . .was the hit of the day in that classroom let me tell you!!! Believe me, I didn't say much for the next week, and for once DH didn't try to defend himself.
