Please look at these eggs *UPDATE! Pip!*

Doesn't look like there is anything going on in there...yet.
I'd give them a few days in the bator and then check them again. Great pictures, btw.

Thanks CountryGirl,
I can get a little obsessive when it comes to candling... I'll try to control myself and check in a few days.

I'm so impatient.

I candled one of the eggs today. There was a dark fleck where an embryo should be! No veining yet but definately different from the first day. Thank you very much, guys for the advice. I felt sure they were toast and almost didn't incubate them.

Candling is fun but try not to handle them too much. Th oils and other things from your hands transfer through the shell and can end up compromising the embryo. The better left alone the better chance your eggs will develop. Most of us candle around Day 7 and maybe on 14 then one last time on 18 when stopping turning getting ready for hatch day.

Congrats on the change!

Good luck with these eggs!

While enjoying scrambled eggs, tea and toast I could hear some cheeping. I thought it was from the chicks in the basement, checked and all was well. Heard it again and realized it was coming from the little incubator. I have a pip! This is "day 14" so to speak. Very unexpected! (summary: when we bought them the breeder had been letting them accumulate under the hen for a week, so we didn't know how 'fresh' they were)

The incubator has an auto turner and I had to open it to put in the little tray to stop them from rolling as the poor thing hatches (I figured that was the lesser of 2 evils, hope I was right). Wow! What a nice surprise today!
