please look...EE pullet not walking/standing

Wanted to update everyone, she is doing okay. I took her to see the vet and he gave her baytril injectable and also rymadil spm for pain I have to give it for 6 days and if she isnt better bring her back. He cant see any reason for her to be like this. Her hock/joint area is swollen But that couls be from scooting. So we will have to wait and see. He thought she was beautiful which was nice.

On a sad note, My favorite chicken passed away tody she was 2 years old, Rhoda, a RIR. she was dead in the run on her side. This is my first chicken death. I brought her to the vets too, he said it is completely unrelated. She was 2 years old.

Sorry about your Rhoda. My first and second demises were 2 snuggly roos that I was so attached to.
I think you did the right thing taking her to the vet. Hope things look up for her.

Thank you, She was a great girl, the mother hen of the bunch, she laid an egg everyday since she started. I miss her already. I never expected it.

Muffy is still the same no change. That is better than a turn for the worse. I hope things look up soon.

I had a chick that was like this suddenly at a month old. I had just watched OCchick go through something similar with hers, and not being able to rule out Mareck's she used a homeopathic medicine Hypericum Perf. 30x. Her bid returned to normal.

I watched my chick go downhill over a day and a half and decided to go to the health-food store to get some- what could it hurt??

I put the pellets of the medicine in a little glass bottle I got there and used distilled water to make a little medicine- I used the glass dropper to drip it down her beak...for 3 days. I kept waiting for her to die. She sat up on day 2. She stood on day 4. She can't be discerned from her siblings now.

I'm not saying this will work for you, but it's worth a shot!!!

I Cant find that hypercium, I did take her to the vts 3 times now... She is still the same, We were going to put her down last night , but he gave her a shot of an antibiotic that last for a week, her hocks are wrapped and This past week she has show no improvment. Hopefully this will work. It will be a month tomorrow that she has been like this.

Chookschick what a nice ending to your story! Glad she is okay!

Sorry to hear your hen is not getting better, are you still giving her calcium (free-choice oyster shell?), is she still laying? Does she still drink a lot of water?

This worked for me and my Sultan pullet, as well. Any drug store or health food store will have it, it's St. Johns wart. You can get it online, also. If she hasn't improved in a month it's definitely worth a shot.

Sorry about your Rhonda
