Please Look My 1st Egg!!!!!!

Hello,
I know everyone has seen so many 1st eggs, but I just had to share. Check out my 1st egg!!!
I believe my hen "Cookie" laid it; she's been very aggressive towards me this week. After I removed it from her sleeping quarters she ran back to look for it and appeared agitated that it was missing. It's a good medium size too. I was so proud of her I gave her special treats

My hens are Golden Comets. Check out my BYC page. I do need to update the pics of the hens and their enclosure as I have moved recently and the setup is different now.
I don't have a real coop yet, they sleep in an very large tote with cut out windows and a door. I covered it with large wood boards and it's always dry inside. This sits inside a dog kennel w/ 2 tarps wrapped around the end w/ the tote.

One week ago, I just started mixing in Laying mash with starter/ grower mash. Also, I started throwing in scratch everyday. I wonder if this stimulated egg production or if it's just a coincidence. They are about 6mths old.

Just today I received my first egg, from a 16 week old Easter Egger pullet!!!

Nice egg you must be so proud, and really you don't have to wear rubber gloves when handling eggs the first ones are uaually not very radioactive LOL.

I have quite a bit to learn. I 'm gonna do a search now on whether to wash it before cooking it or not. There seem to be different schools of thought on the matter.
