PLEASE need Help Fast!!

I posted this in the emergencies but havn't received any replies yet so thought I'd try here too!

My chick that is only two days old seems like he has something stuck in his throat!

His crop seems awful puffed out and he kinda stands with his head back and his beak comes open off and on. I tried to see if i could see anything but can't really hold it open long enough to see, but it looks like he has like liquidy stuff in his mouth too!! He shook his head a couple of times too!!!

Please help me!!

Is his crop hard or like a water balloon? Is his breath sour smelling? A hard crop usually means impacted crop. A water balloon like crop with sour breath (or sour burps when you massage the crop in a downward motion) indicates sour crop. With sour crop, you will hear a lot of gas bubbles and gurgles when you massage the crop.

ETA: I just realized that you said he is only 2 days old. He may have something stuck in his crop. I highly doubt such a young chick would get sour crop. With adult chickens, you can try olive oil to help it pass through, but a chick may be different. Hopefully someone is on this this late that knows how to treat 2-day-olds.

I am NEW to chickens .....I have 8 chicks 2 week old and a few 3 weeks....I have not had THAT problem yet......(I have had to deal with a weak trampled chick)

choking.....I hope not! do you have shavings in the bottom of your brooder??????

Hey- thank you for asking...

YES he is alright.....I THINK....it was 3 days of 24/7 care...BUT he is better.

Just still is the "weak" one of the group.

I havn't seen him! It's like he has this stuff in his mouth and throat and it's hard for him to breathe
