It hatched an hour ago and cant break off the long thin strand of cord, it has a small yolk sac externally too, it has been seen to get stuck on the bottom of the incubator. Iwant to wait until it has come detached from its cord so as i can lay a liner at the bottom to prevent it getting caught... What do i do!!?
This is my first time hatching chicks, and what a rollercoaster it is!

You can gently pick up baby, cord and egg if it's still attached too and place your mat. Otherwise let it keep drying and it'll absorb it. The rest will dry and come loose. Others will come along with more advice soon I'm sure.
That's how I do it, someone may know a better way tho so check back. :)
Congrats on the new babies! Hope its a great hatch all the way! :)

I'd suggest you go and make yourself a nice drink. It's very early where I live, but it's also a holiday. Maybe a mimosa? Take your time drinking it.
Then, when you come back to the incubator, check and see if chick is fluffy and dry yet. If she isn't, go make another drink.
Once she's fluffy and dry, re-evaluate and post back. We're here for you, and will help you through this!
