please please please say this isn't coryza

I ordered eye ointment once, and it did nothing, so I switched to triple antibiotic ointment to the eyes and it cleared them right up. Go figure

Interesting. I've used Terramycin eye ointment, neo-poly-bac, and ciproflaxin drops. Drops are difficult to use, but the Cipro drops as well as neo-poly-bac eye ointment were very effective and fast acting.

One of my hens last year got an injured eye. The terramycin ointment did nothing. So I tried triple antibiotic, and the swelling and goop got better and cleared. Unfortunately, she is blind in that eye, I think she got pecked in the eye. She must have gotten an infection because I used sulfadimethoxine and that worked. She had been sleeping all the time. Now she's good, and the only hen out of 20 that have laid an egg!

I used Tylan 50 for 4 or 5 days and then stopped and started giving her oregano oil in her water. That's when she started getting better. The giant scab along with a huge hunk of that cheesy gunk fell off of her eye. It's a good thing I don't have a weak stomach, but it made my mother gag. Both eyes are looking good now. It doesn't seem to have damaged them. I put a spare cockrel in with her. If he gets ill, I'll have to cull both of them. If not, I'll put them both back out. That was the best thing I could figure out.

I'm watching the flock for signs of illness but so far so good. *knocks on wood* Thanks for the input! I have been reading them. Sorry I haven't been responded. I've been very busy. Merry Christmas!
