Here are my nest boxes! There are three total and are attached to the outside of the coop. The door flops open after unlatching the latches.
There are curtains for privacy, though the hens always end up putting their heads inside to se who's there.
I was going to through this old basket away and thought it would make a good nesting box for my silkies, they do lay eggs in it but the rooster decided to sleep in it tonight.
Here's ours, in progress. The henhaus is on the site of the original outhouse on the farm, and guess what that front piece is? It flips down for access to the boxes.
These are our simple homemade nesting boxes. We made them with milk crates we bought from the dollar store, and dishpans we bought from the dollar store. They are very simple but the girls sure enjoy them. I know they are not much, but they are very effective for our girls.
Well duuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh now i dont need chickens, all i got to do is put golf balls in the coop...no messs either, no poop, but duhhhhhhhhhhh no fried eggs and ham either....! Awwww shucks its just a blonde joke.....I would neveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrr eat fried golf balls.....
I consider myself refined, originally from the big city Chicago. But I have always loved power tools, nuts, bolts, left over wood. Now that I am in the country and loving it, I gonna plan me a chicken coop, I am 70 now but still kind of a gnarly girl when it comes to critters. I guess its kind of funny going to church with my mink coats and fine shoes, only to come home to chicken poop and eggs. I can't wait til I can get some church friends to come and help me. I gonna have some finnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeee sweet chickens soon...Margolyn
