I have the poly rope wire and have had it up for over 10 years and it's still going strong. The smaller chargers will give a shock pretty equivalent to a bee sting. The larger chargers make my heart skip a few beats. I have these chargers but mine are older ones so they look different. Mine are 1.2 joules.

This is how you do it!
These 1+joule chargers will knock their Peters though the pavement.
The little 5 mile/10 mile/ .05 joule chargers just tickle a predator. The whole purpose in an electric fence is to psychologically train a predator to stay away. And you want a "One time" lesson they will never forget. Anytime they encounter an electric fence strand, you want them to remember getting them getting their cooter knocked through the concrete or their dick in the dirt. They don't remember a tickle, but the memory of pain persists.
