Why am I the one who is getting talked about like that? I'm just responding to what Countrybum said with the "Uh, Hello" part.

I must say walkswithdog's, you should definitely read ALL posts before posting stupid comments like that about me, or anyone else. I wasn't being rude but now I am. BYC has been a great place with great people, and this is my first encounter with someone disrespectful like yourself. Id like to keep BYC a happy place but there is no reason to be nice to people when they don't deserve it. I find this website very informative and I'm grateful for the kindness of BYC members who are here to help instead of judge. Yes this is my first hatch, technically second but first with my LG, do I deserve any less respect than the others? I'm here for the benefits of this site not socialize with rude malicious people like yourself so Id appreciate you not commenting to my threads unless you have something helpful to share. By the way, the last time I checked this was about ducks not dogs. Thanks.

Thank you so much to everyone who did leave comments to help me. MichiganWoods your pictures were great, thank you so much for taking the time to do that. I just had a blood ring. I've come to quickly tell the difference between a blood ring, healthy egg, and infertile egg. This batch there was one blood ring. There have been so many similar threads about what I posted, all information tells about blood rings but not the perimeter around the veins.

The egg in the pick had spiderweb veins. A blood ring will usually encircle the egg and be very dark with no spiderweb. When you see an actual blood ring you will know then what to look for, it is very different from what your pic shows. I always wait at least until the other eggs turn dark from growth. If the egg does not progress or smells then you know it is bad. The only other time I remove a suspect egg is when I have run out of room for new eggs.

Also in early development if you move the egg slightly the embryo will usually respond with movement or might actually see the beating of the heart.

Thank you! Yeah unfortunately I know what a blood ring looks like now, but I wasnt sure if these were on their way to dying. So far I have 9 of 9 bouncing babies!! There was one blood ring that I opened and it had an embryo that died between Day 1-3. I never saw veining on it, just the blood ring. There was never a heartbeat either. However when I opened it there was the start of a forming duck.

I'm a big believer in only candling twice. (I read a lot here)

Day 10 and the end of day 17 just before you stop turning.

Good luck.

I hope everyone got what they needed out of this thread. I am closing it with a reminder to follow the rules about no flaming and being kind to others. Hijacking a thread is not nice. Oh and take advantage of the talent here even if it is not what you are looking for at that time.
