Please, show me your ducks

Whoops, I meant to reply to this before!
(I do wonder if ALL Blue ducks actually have black on their plumage?)
I read about this, actually! Seems like the black sneaks through when a feather doesn’t receive enough of the blue dilution :)
...Are the black spots on your girl's wings shiny?
No, not really. Maybe a slight shine. They’re more matte like the rest of her feathers.

Hi.

I read about this, actually! Seems like the black sneaks through when a feather doesn’t receive enough of the blue dilution :)

Ooooooh... that's so interesting...!!

Thank you so much for this information...!!

(Would that then mean these black "spots" work, in fact, in a similare way as the leakages on White coloured plumages Dusky Feathers Waterfowl is talking about in one of their articles...?)

No, not really. Maybe a slight shine. They’re more matte like the rest of her feathers.

Okay...

I asked, because I noticed one of my Blue Duclair duckling has black on his/her wing - I don't remember if it is the ducklet (if she is a girl?) or the drakelet -, and I was REALLY surprised to see this black being so very shiny...!!

But I mix food grade Diatomaceous Earth AND maintenance plant-based pellets in my ducks and chickens food - among other things...
...
and in my experiences, these products strengthen the feathers AND give them much prettier, shinier colours...

...My two Blue Duclair ducklings - juveniles now actually - are my first Blue ducks ever... and I sincerely think they look more amazing yet than I had thought by looking at pictures.
(Blue is a beautiful colour on ducks!)

I just took pictures of my Silver/Splash Duclair drakelet :

Pictures of Splash coloured ducks are much too rare in my opinion, so I will keep sharing what I can as my boy grows older!

(Hoping for the ones who own Silver/Splash ducks to do the same...!)

So...

This boy's name is Beau., and he is a 7-weeks-old - he is born on AUGUST 9th - Splash coloured Duclair duckling.

(...Given he is a Duclair, he has a white bib!)

He... actually was a surprise : when I bought the eggs for one of my broody hens late Spring, I did not think I would eventually get a Splash Duclair duckling from one of them...!

Indeed : he actually comes from a Blue Duclair duck egg...!!

(I took my sweet time to understand this boy was a Splash Duclair! Before that, I did not even think he was a Duclair... or even Splash coloured - since he was born with a colour similar to a Snowy duckling...!)

Voilà for a Splash (Bibbed) coloured drakelet!

(His juvenile feathers are kind of "silver liquid" coloured - so very pretty -, and his eyes are blue.)

...I will remember to post some more pictures of Beau in the future...!

Whatever happened, Daisy lived a longer life thanks to you.
Your are not at fault if ever she was attacked by a predator... and angel wing or not, you can't know for sure if she "just" has not go away to live an ordinary, Mallard duck life... right?

...Daisy was really, really lucky to have met you...!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️:hugs😊

Wow... good job there!!

Settled in her cage fast asleep

Her second favourite place my hair

I'm dying from too much cuteness...!!

First time outside

Once they are grown up, we tend to forget how much they were tiny...

Hope you enjoy the cute pictures

I did!!

I can't even pick a favorite!!

Baby Johnny, blue fawn call duck, she was a lone hatch, her first week she only had human friends, she broke our hearts when she past away earlier this year 💔 she was not even a year old

Sad things happen - that's life...
...but at least, Johnny was happy with you.

Calls. The far left is a hen, the other 4 are drakes. Obviously not the permanent number, thats just what I ended up with out of the 5 I got

They are so beautiful...!!
Especially the Emory Penciled (Fawn and White) drake, in my opinion!! (What can I say? I just love this colour...!!)

Is the one at the center a Dark Grey/Mallard coloured drake?

And do you already know what boy you will be keeping?

(Thank you for the picture.)

I noticed I, too, stopped getting notifications on some threads...
(Is it normal...?)
yes it is normal after you haven't posted something on that thread for a while it stops sending notifications the longer the thread goes on for the quicker it stops the notifications or at least this is what I have found
