Please sign this petition against TSCs new brooders

I understand your argument regarding corporations but corporations are held to certain standards regarding health and safety practices and when selling live animals it is moreso because of animal cruelty laws. I agree that boycotting will more than likely do more than a petition but the point is to make our voices heard. You can blame shipping, you can blame the weather, you can even blame the hatchery but when it comes right down to it the birds are not being kept in adequete heat or ventilation in those brooders. Its up to you what you choose to do whether you agree with others or not. I have my own personal thoughts on these brooders and I personally think they are cruel. I'm not trying to sway an opinion just trying to ask people of like minds to sign.
I appreciate the simplicity of your worldview and the strength of your belief in your power to change things - or that the change we both expect is coming will be in any small part as response to your actions.

Its not worth my time to address your drive by reference to animal cruelty laws or health and safety practices. {Not a great source, and they have an obvious agenda, but its not a terrible gloss of the shape of the legal landscape}.

All the best to you and your efforts.

I appreciate you as well for taking time out of your day to make the consideration regardless of your lack of optimism. All the best to you as well ❤️

If people didn't use tractor supply to source chicks they wouldn't have them cause they wouldn't sell. I'd venture to say most maybe even including the original poster are hypocrites. If you bought from tractor then you have no say in the matter. So my question is have the people that signed it bought from them before?

What about hatcheries? Are they ok? The way they handle chicks or even brood stock for that matter? I guess thats ok.
Nice to pick and choose your battles depending on where you source yours from
So where would people get chicks from?
Individual breeders only? How would we know how they treat their birds?
Shall we only buy chicks from breeders close enough to drive out and see how they operate? Would they risk bio security to let everyone on the property to see?
Or should we let government do the work for us? Let USDA up every breeders @$$ to select who is worthy or supplying chicks.
Oh wait a minute government is already involved in hatcheries practices and we shouldn't buy from them.
Now I'm confused where to turn? Oh ya this was just a utopian dream for everyone posting wasn't it?

And no I don't buy chicks from TSC. In fact I don't shop at TSC at all.

I personally will not be buying my chicks from TSC again but I have an incubator and can hatch my own. Where do you buy your feed at? TSC is our closest option currently. The next place is 2 towns over about a 40 minute drive there and back. Sometimes people just dont have another option. I'm not saying anything bad about their store just that they need to reconsider their brooder option because in practice its simply not working and is killing chicks that may have otherwise been healthy

I live in a rural area. We have 5 TSC within a hour's drive from here. I wouldn't buy feed from any of them. Their feed is overpriced and not fresh.
We also have probably at least 5 or 6 other options within the same distance. Feed stores to mills. I sometimes go to a smaller similar to TSC place when I'm in a hurry that's close. But my choice place is a mill that's 45 minutes one way from here.

You're lucky to have so many options! We only have one other feed store fairly close and it closed down due to the pandemic economic impact. We dont have a mill close by either or that might be an option for us. We have considered mixing our own feed but its just not cost effective for us right now with such a small flock

We only need 8000 more signatures to reach our goal. Hopefully we can at the very least get them to fix the temperature problems in their brooders but we need everybodys help to get them to listen to our concerns! This is one of the largest chicken related websites on the internet and it is in the BYC spirit to support and love chickens! Lets not let any more chicks die in vain! Thank you all for supporting this petition!
