Here is Nellie or should I say Ned? 5 weeks old. No raised comb, kind of flat but it sure is red. Not sure of the breed. As a chick she had a yellow/white on neck and bellie and white on the tips of her wings. White on neck and bellie is still there but wings are all black.

Here is Eggalina with Nellie. Eggalina has a greenish tinge on the top of her head and her legs look a tad on the green side as well.

The 4 wk old brown Easter Egger is Nugget - Girl? Eggalina is in the front with the greenish head.

This is Sweetie. Five week old Dark Brahama - Girl??

Waffles, Five week old Easter Egger. Same age as Eggalina but much bigger and more feathers.

Foxy Cleopatra (7 wks old Comet) and Lucy (6 wks old Buff Orpington) - both girls I hope.

Sadie (4 week old bantam of some sort)

The whole flock - Thanks for looking and giving your opinions.

I am going to say the first one a roo and buff one a roo and just maybe the red one ?

The first one, the black one looks like a roo. I think it has a rose comb, that's why it's not as raised up like a straight comb would be. It's sure red, though.

Yeah i would agree that the first black one is a roo, but closer up pictures of their faces would help too

Waffles and sweetie (amazing names) are both girls

Good Luck

I had my doubts about Nellie/Ned once the comb became dark red but since it was not raised I hoped it was due to her breed which I still have no idea about. I will hold out hope for Foxy and Lucy (comet and buff). Lucy is soooo very skiddish not a bit of testosterone in her actions so I'm surprised at that speculation. So happy that Waffles and Sweetie are girls. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that no one crows but at 5-7 weeks I still have a few weeks to wait. I'll just have to tell them boys to think girlie thoughts!

Thank you for your help. Too bad my wyandotte is most likely a roo. Just when I found out what she/he is. I'll keep an eye on them. I've contacted the farm where I got them who said they would help me re-home if necessary. Hate to lose a portion of my flock but unfortunately a roo has no place in my neighborhood.

I plan to wait a few more weeks then take those in question to the farm and have them take a peek. Hopefully I'll be able to take them back home with me.
