Please tell me my lavender orpington chick is not a cockerel!!!! So confusing!!

I raise lavender orpingtons. 3-4weeks is too early to be very accurate, but by 8 weeks, we can usually tell. It is true the thicker legs is a good indication of cockerel, but not always. Pullets tend to feather in just slightly faster, but once again, not the most reliable factor. Comb growth and color are the best way until saddle feathers come in. Post some more pictures in about 4-5 weeks.
Thank you for the info I will be sure to post more photos again when the chick is older!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have some pics. These chicks hatched Jan 6th 2020. I can just NOW tell the Rooster. His legs were always thicker and if you spread his wings out he didnt have the extra feathers in between wing feathers. But notice the hens have cones coming up just not as bright yet. Some even have a small waddle.

Thank you for the pics my chick that I think is a male has less feathers in then my other chick and has a little red in its comb. Trying to stay positive but kind of think its a male.

i ordered mine from mypetchicken.com. So i received 9 females and 1 male. They all looked so much alike for the longest time tho the Roo started thicker legs and a tad bigger cone. I hope your is a hen but if you lived close to me, i would come buy him. If you can find friends on here closer your problem will be solved.

Yes it would be nice to find a friend on backyard chicken near me that wanted a cockerel lavender Orpington!!!

I would not agree that they are roosters! I had a massive lavender Orpington and she had a huge comb, and was bigger than everyone, but then never crowed and laid eggs....but go ahead sell that egg laying rooster to someone like me!!
