Please tell me the top 3 best layers and gentlest hen breed out there.

The very best chickens, the very sweetest chickens, the best egg layers( big, beautiful brown egg every day), the sweetest to other flock members, blah blah blah.......sorry

but I adore my Buff Orpys!

These are the first chickens I have ever had that will actually jump on your lap for a nice lazy day nap in the sun, and purrrrr.....yes! Purr!

I only wish I had discovered this wonderful (standard) breed sooner. I'll never own another breed.

Thank each of you for your thoughts. I was leaning towards Buff Orpinger and barred rock. I need to investigate the others.

I live in Holland and backyard chickens as a hobby (in the city too) is very common...
Brahmas are adored here for their gentle nature and are good layers.

my favoroles are like babies they sit in my lap and beg to be picked up and lay fairly well for brand new layers.

Jersey Giants are big and gentle. Phoenix are nice too. I have a phoenix rooster that is an absolute gentleman. I can pick him up just like my hens. I have had him for many years, and he has never attacked a human.

The meanest rooster I have ever had was a leghorn. That thing would stalk my husband and attack him. He even chased cars and tried to attack them.
