Is this tiny egg an uncommon occurrence? All 5 GLW's seem to be thriving. Thank you! Someone shorted me on the rent!!

Yes those happen sometimes. Mine do it too!

Not uncommon. Can happen any time, but happens more frequently at the beginning or end of a laying cycle.

Not uncommon. When a hen lays a tiny egg it is called a fairy egg. They are most common in new or old layers but can happen any time. It's just a glitch in the system.

Not uncommon at all! Their called fairy eggs.

She's still in her beginning stage. End of the cycle is about 3-8 years depending on breed and living conditions.

As the others said, they’re nothing to worry about, and are especially common for pullets and older layers.
Golden Laced Wyandotte’s typically lay eggs consistently for 3-4 years, but it varies for each hen.
In my experience, abnormal eggs become more common once they reach 4+ years, and of course during their first few months of laying.
All that said, you can get fairy eggs and other egg abnormalities throughout a hen’s lifespan.

They may be getting ready to go into a molt and break their laying cycle - especially if they laid through the winter. They will regrow feathers and initiate a new laying cycle.
