Please tell they are in fact all she's !! =)

Beautiful hens. Ditto on the suggestion to train them on the nest boxes if they free range. I went nuts waiting for my first flock of hens to lay until I found a huge nest under the storage shed piled high with eggs.

That would NOT be a fun discovery that's for sure!!! What did you do at that point with the eggs, did you eat or toss out? How long had they been there, what was weather like, did they spoil.. etc, etc,? Please do tell because I would have NO idea what to do

Ewww I would bury those eggs somewhere in the garden. I've made the mistake of busting open an egg that had been "cooking" for a week+ outside during the summer. :sick I just wanted to see if it was good!
That was before I heard about the float test, but I would never risk even a non-floater egg. I'd just toss them.

I can only imagine the smell...

is right. I have a horrible gag re-flux too, so I definitely would've lost my lunch!

Yeah, the eggs' age was uncertain, so I had to toss them out. But I was very pleased that nature was taking its course and that there was nothing wrong with my hens.

I looked around outside today to be "certain" my girls weren't laying in hidden spots yet. They aren't yet...hopefully soon though
