plexi glass or real glass

is the only reason why people use plexi glass on the coop windows because its cheaper then glass? Are their any other reasons to use plexi glass instead of glass

Plexi glass doesn't shatter like glass can.

I don't think that plexi is cheaper. But is less breakable.
I prefer real glass.

Plexiglass is lighter weight for portable coops. It is shatter resistant.

Plexi won't shatter like glass and is lighter, but it gets dingy and scratched up. I have glass in my coop, but would use plexi for a tractor type set up.

I had a chicken fly right through the glass window of the coop. I also had a guinea do the same thing. I prefer plexi now.

Takes more of an impact than glass but does break down over time unlike eglass

I've used both. For me it comes down to what I can get my hands on for free. Right now that means glass because I scored a pile of divided light windows off of craigslist.
