Does backyard chickens have a plugin or api or something? I would like to directly incorporate it into my farms website. There is no reason for me to create a forum or re-create the host of knowledge this company already offers. That coupled with the fact we don't sell any of the same products (I don't sell incubators etc...) So having the ability for my website to be able to natively READ (not WRITE) the data already publicly hosted by BYC. I was just wanting them the ability to see notifications/their accounts etc... while on the site and keeping it separate from the actual store/accounts etc... as it would remain unaffiliated. I just want to use it as the resource that it is and give my customers the same access.

Right now (website is not publicly visible atm) I just have a link for the site at the hotbar and maybe might change it to a resource tab? Not sure how I am going to handle it.

I am using wordpress to be lazy. I used to like flash (Flash is dead).

Depending on what you're doing, you could incorporate a link to BYC's Homepage there, and also link to forums, Articles, or posts relevant to what you're discussing, but you couldn't create a forum like this one, as you mentioned, then link yours here. Here are our Terms and Rules.
I don't want to create a forum. I was looking for a API or a plugin that allows another server to read the data from another. It would not be creating anything. It would if anything just be redirecting the people and traffic towards you... I feel like I am asking this in the wrong place and a forum post prob would not be the place to ask. Forget it, ill just write my own. Also your terms of service has nothing to do with this... as I would not be doing anything on the server./forum.. so I could not be in violation. Your only option would be to punish other people... for you know existing and having an account on your site.

I realized that it was for your farm page, thus why I asked if you couldn't just put a link to our homepage there.

I looked up what an API/Plugin was: "An API is a set of rules and specifications that allow different software systems to communicate with each other, essentially acting as a middleman for data exchange. A plugin, on the other hand, is a software component that adds specific functionality to an existing application, enhancing its capabilities."

Perhaps @Nifty-Chicken could better answer you, as he's way more techy than I am, and since he owns BYC.

Yes, my goal was to add the ability for people to see and get notifications etc from their BYC accounts while viewing my website. I was not trying to make my own forum and if anything I was trying to cut work load out. The plugin would prob have been a wordpress plugin or some other.

It would be great for BYC as it would solidify it as the go to forum and any farm with their own website could incorporate BYC into their site without BYC being affiliated or having to do anything. This would allow customers (who need to be here on BYC anyways for knowledge) direct access to their notifications, forum search etc... all while taking nothing directly from BYC and just adding more functionality. Hell if they made a plugin they (BYC) could charge the farm owners annually to use it. It helps the farms, it helps BYC, it helps the customers and most of all it helps the animals.

BYC has the ability to be netflix right now... or it could remain as blockbuster. Who at the time of their choice was also currently at the top.

Sorry, we don't.

Thanks! We are very lucky to be the #1 chicken-related community in the world!

Interesting idea. Have you seen this (or similar) incorporated elsewhere? I'm not seeing the value proposition to the farm website (of which very few I've seen get much sticky traffic), BYC, or the users/visitors of each. Again, maybe I'm misunderstanding? It might help if I have some examples of other sites (not even chicken-related) that have done similar and/or some examples of "farm websites" that get enough traffic to make it a win-win-win situation.

Based on our stats, we're already the "netflix" of chicken websites, but with that said, we're always looking for great ways to keep on top.

Thanks for the ideas / suggestions!

Sir, Blockbuster was on top when netflix came to them and asked them to adapt. In this case you're blockbuster and I am trying to get you to adapt... but just nevermind getting a headache already.

Im' going to go do what netflix did. I' like the hill you decided to stand on.
