Hi Everyone,

First time chicken owner, picked up two Plymouth Rock chicks at 1 week only that had characteristics of being females.

At three weeks one of them started getting really red comb and wattles, we are at 4 weeks now and the second also seems to be developing a red comb and wattles.

Any help would be much appreciated before I attempt to go either a) buy some sexed female chicks online or b) find a local breeder with some pullets.

Picture is of the two rocks I have at 4.5 weeks old.

Thank you

Both are cockerels. Sorry it didn't turn out as you had hoped!

Thank you, I was pretty sure that’s the answer I was going to hear.

I hatched three fertile eggs 2 Swedish Flower hens and a French Copper Maran, sure I only got one female Flower Hen from that batch then I picked up these two Plymouth rocks that were supposed to be sexed link female.

1 out of 5, my odds have been against me so far.

I was thinking of order chicks from greenfire farms that are bent sexed for my next try.

I’ll raise these two up with my one Swedish Flower Hen to keep her company and get some more chicks or pullets to add to the flock before removing the males.
