Very much a "Southern tradition". We own about 20 acres that we have a mobile home on for "hunting camp"....roughing it I know. And we lease the hunting rights on about 5000 acres nearby. My boys have been hunting with me since they were 4 yrs old. Carrying rifles at 6 and both harvested their first deer at 7. It's kinda "guy time away" more than anything.

Club is about 3 hrs from the house

Take care

Wynette, the roosters have my son's number. Lol

They're fine with me and my husband but they'll go running for my son. Do chickens react to colors? My son has a bright red coat I've been wondering about. When I pick them up they both scream like little girls and arent agressive at all. So????

Some folks say they don't like red, others say they have no color preferences. I say, they don't like it. I have several feed scoops, only one is red. When I use that feed scoop to dump their feed in their bin, they ALWAYS (all my breeds) peck at the scoop - HARD. None of the other scoops, though. So...

I have heard that chickens can really see red and will go for it - the one color they can really see - thus why mine LOVE tomatoes and go for those first!

And thus way it is recommended to use Red heat lamps so if there is blood they can not see any difference in the other chicks. Or this is how i remember being told
