Plymouth Rock thread!

I love all varieties of the Plymouth Rock, but this thread has begun to revolve around Silver Pencilled as of late. I have them, and I love them, but I am missing the talk about the other varieties lately.

Fred, how are your Barred coming along?

Yard full of Rocks, your Columbian?

Forgive me.. I can't recall who has the Buff. I would love to see some updated pictures. :)

I don't see enough talk about the Whites either. Hardly ever with the BBS Rocks. Partridge? Seems like forever...

I have been slacking with pictures. My young Barred are coming along VERY nicely.

My oldest boy (just over a year) has saved countless young ones from hawks this month. Forgive his stance, he is trying to impress the girls (and or me - at least I like to think so) :p

I will be sharing some more pictures by the weekend.

Aoxa, wow, he must be ginormous. His legs look like little tree stumps! Good boy for protecting his girls! You really can't put a price on a protective male.

Who is breeding exhibition quality partridge? That is another variety that you sure don't see much of, but a well built one is just a beauty to behold.

x2 I would like to see a bigger variety of rocks too.

I have barreds hope to have more solid BBS in the spring cartridge and SPPR too love them all.

I asked a question about my partridge color and got no replies that I saw. they are from hortsman and the pullets don't seem to have that dark mahogany color like the roos anyone got some tips? just breed them to really dark roos?

My 11 Danny Padgett - Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock chicks will be 2 weeks old tomorrow. They are very active and all are doing great. :) I am looking forward to seeing them fill out.

I hope to see some of them Canadian Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks in the pictures you will be posting. :)

I left that garbage can in there so you can get an idea on size. I am impressed. He is very large. The girls are almost as big (the older ones anyway). But wow.. they are SO slow to fill out.

I have almost 14 week old Barred chicks (I am going to continue calling them chicks..) Ostrich, this one:

Note: Picture is at 7 weeks old, not current

Is still wildly naked. It's unbelievable. He has chest, thigh and wing feathers, but his shoulders, upper back and neck remain featherless. The barring that is in, is really nice. He does have some weird placement on his primaries though. They are curled a bit. I'm going to let him have his juvenile molt before making any big decisions. I will have to get a new photo of him, because it's terribly sad lol.

My in-laws thought he was injured by a hawk he looks so bad

You can see my rocks in video here. That includes the SP and the Barred. I can say I am really impressed with the size and fast growth of the SPPR. They are double the size of the BPR with only a week's difference in age.

Well the video doesn't seem to work or at least for me it didn't. I guess I'll just have to wait a few days for the SPPR pictures you will be posting. ;)

Did someone say BARREDS? Mine are pretty much over their molts, thankfully. Here are my three 2 1/2 yr old Stukel line hens and Indy, the son out of the largest hen with my Del rooster. Amazing how well he is barred, considering he's a cross; I keep saying that, but I still can't get over it, that and his giant size. He's not quite 20 weeks old and he is as tall as my knee already, with a head about as large as his sire's. So far, excellent temperament.

Dottie, who is often broody:

Wynette:

Ida, largest hen and mother to Indy:

Indy, who will be my new main flock leader when Isaac passes on, barring complications:

That is a 5 gallon bucket he's towering over and he's not even standing tall here.
