Plymouth Rock thread!

I need a sink in my barn with hot water.. Yep. I'd do it once a day if I could. I do hose them out daily and scrub any dirt, but they mess it up. If you had ducks, you'd never see clean water again. :|
I bought a bucket wand heater this year. In ten minutes you can have a cold bucket of water up to 180 degrees. Tractor Supply caries them in the winter but I wanted mine at tax time and I ordered from a horse supply company on line (name begins with an S but my brain if spasming on the rest). In the past I would just carry the hot water from the house but a bad disc makes that painful now so I bought me some technology!

As a kid I grew up around it all chickens, ducks, geese, Turkeys, guinea fowl, pheasants, and quail and that is just naming the feathered friends lol :) I have chose to just stick with chickens but my father still has chickens, ducks and geese. You are correct about ducks. In my opinion young ducklings are one of the most entertaining to watch but also can make a mess very quick. :)

It's just sharing a photo, but I figure that's just fine. These are my ~16 week old Silver Pencilled Rocks enjoying some range time, hatched from eggs purchased from Larry Urban. The pullets type seems good, and two of them have excellent patterning, but they are on small side. Haven't bothered weighing lately as they'll likely be a economic casualty here. I have no idea why the cockerel is rumpless, but it is actually rumpless, not just missing tail feathers.
I do like the females type as they look to have no cushion problem at all. I unfortunately do have a cushion problem in my Horstman line females and hope that my Padgett line is a little better in that area.

The smell involved in brooding ducklings.. Nope, never again. If I raise any more ducks, it will ONLY be by a broody. No water inside for the ducks.

Do you have just the one male? That's crazy odd on the rumpless issue. Of the myriad of issues that the SPR in general are plagued with, this is a new one to me! Don't count those pullets out just yet; though they lack that nice, flat back we like to see in the older juveniles and adults, they are clearly "on alert" in the pic. That nice tail life may come later. I know with my line, it's a full 20 weeks before I even begin to see that females' tails really start to show me where they are headed, and that is quite early.
