I was thinking I needed some eggs from those ladies naw you have regular pullets. I'm waiting on some of mine the Partridge and it's so hot they're probably already cooked but they are singing and digging around in the nest box so soon they're 21 weeks

I think I might have misled you a bit....sorry. The CRs I got from a local guy here in Ga are laying. They are about 22 weeks old. These girls are from "hatchery parentage". My "breeder quality" birds came from Ohio and those are about 16-17 weeks old. Those are the ones in the group shot
Sorry

The "breeder quality" birds you got from Ohio, Was the breeders name Tim?

My little barred rock "Pepper" (perfect name) is the sweetest, bravest chicken ever! Runs right up to you, not leader of the pecking order but in 2nd place, always in the front being the leader and ready to be handled whenever you want! Know's her name and comes when called! She was my first chicken and only one left from that batch, such an ANGEL!!!!

Nope, I was thinking the same - that it was his breeder stock laying.

I took photos of my Silver Pencil Plymouth Rocks today. They hatched in May so are still pretty young. Can anyone tell me which ones are keepers and which should not be part of a breeding program? (curled feet in the roos are my fault, I didn't add vitamins and minerals to the chick's water until it was too late)

No idea on which to keep for breeding, maybe Wynette will see this and offer her advise. I suspect you'll need to grow them out more though, and then choose your breeders.

Hennypen, I answered your PM!

Yes, you need to wait it out on them...unfortuantley, the silver pencileds take FOREVER and a day to grow out & see their adult plumage. You will be happy you waited, trust me!

On the roosters, I like the one with the lighter feathering on his sides best so far - the other's tail appears to be a bit too long, but again, it's really too soon to tell.
