Plymouth Rock thread!

Happy Chooks where did you get your Silver Penciled Large Fowl Rocks? They are very nice looking females.

Thanks for sending your dues to us I made a deposit yesterday had I think 8 new checks. If you can get two to three new members eacy month your club is doing good.
I did get a membership of the fellow who got his strart in Barred Rocks from Frank Reese who shared his three trios with Cathy.

If you did get some good Silver Pencilled or Partridge Rock Large Fowl would you share with us who you got them from?

I am trying to make a directory for you folks for Plymouth Rocks even if you dont want to show them ,but just want them for your personel use.

I have about 8 names of breeders who will share eggs or chicks this spring. Then I will post a list for you and you can go from there to get some.

I am also going to do this for the old fashion Dark Heritage Ventage Rhode Island Reds in Single Comb and Rose Conb.

Got to go to work.

Is from Wynette from Michigan ?

While I am it I guess I should post the pitures sent to me by Mike Wagner of Michigan of the Plymouth Rocks at the Indiana State Fair.
They had some very nice large fowl and bantams at this show. They all look like good or above average to the breed not hatchery chickens that I cold see in the Photos. bob

......I just checked my eggs in the 'bator and "Houston, we have fertility!!"

First set of Columbian Rock eggs were a bust. Not a single one fertile. But this time, I put 11 in and it appears they are ALL growing.

At any rate, baby Columbian rocks are growing....now I'm off to the land of "perpetual job hunting...again"

Everyone have a GREAT day

, Yard full o' rocks!! I checked my Blue Plymouth Rocks under my broody Saturday night, and all appear to be developing, too. One looks smaller than the rest, so we will see in a few days if it makes it. Good Luck!!

Chris, that is terrific. You did a great job with incubation and hatching. I saw the picture before I read your post, and about had a heart attack when I saw that red chick!!!

Thanks, Scott. They really are much better this year. I made a mess of the blues using hatchery barreds to cross with them. Fortunately I had some gorgeous blacks plus that splash roo to fix them this year. MUCH happier with this years birds.

Yes, yes they are from Halo. Day 21 is Friday - I'm soooo excited. I have to keep a very close eye on my first-time mama hen Sunshine, who is a White Leghorn and as such they are not known for their "motherlyness". She's been great sitting so far, I just don't want her to freak out and kill any of those beautiful birds. All eyes on Sunshine and her little clutch this week.

I had a Black rock girl that killed her first 2 born before I "caught" her. Just in case, have a brooder pen ready and set up to take them away from her if need be. For some goofy reason, some of them just aren't "programmed" to be mamas....any some don't seem to understand that the chicks are 'her babies"....good luck. A good broody DOES make a great mama and so fun to watch
