That's exactly right. These were my picks from the last hatch. Hate to do any "picking" at 2 weeks of age, but the circumstances demanded it.

High, high hopes for these kiddos. These represent the 3rd generation, so they are "our" line now. Cannot continue to speak of famous names and all that after one has done the breeding match ups for a couple of years.

Hi Aoxa

Thank you for the update. Hatch days are so exciting.

Four of my hens are now broody (one of them is the easter egger, the others are spprs). I am letting them sit on eggs so should have lots of little ones next month.

Bye for now.

PEI Chicken
We have 3 eggs left from the SPPRs so that means 14 have hatched. 2 EEs, and the other two pipped the wrong end and died. Poor things. All very lively little things. Very cute!! One of the remaining eggs has a pip, but the other two nothing yet.

Good hatch as far as I'm concerned :)

Good luck with your broodies! It's the easiest way to raise chicks.

making 'early calls' can be unsettling but sometimes necessary...I imagine with where you started on these GSBR's, that one would be indeed hard pressed to find a truly 'undesirable' bird in the whole lot of them...guess it depends on your own mind's eye in determining what fine tuning suits your taste...

Fred,
Very cool on having bred 3 generations of these nice Rocks thus far...am looking forward to doing that myself over the next several years...especially after we can move onto more property

Got 11 Buff Rocks now to grow out...I will post photos very soon. they are just starting to 'fluff up' from hatching yesterday. Super excited and hoping to do my best keeping them fat and happy in our sweltering AZ heat over the next 3 months too.

In all seriousness, everyone is so very happy for you. The number of folks who will want your future offspring will be large. You're very fortunate.

This is our 4 month old Partridge Plymouth Rock Rooster "Daddy". He can be a jerk most of the time!
OMG he is just STUNNING!!

Very hot & humid today. Making sure my chicks have shade & plenty of fresh water. A few pictures of my Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock chicks at 8 weeks old.

5 of the 15 Silver Pencilled Plymouth Rocks. One Easter Egger looks EXACTLY like them, minus the comb (no doesn't have a beard). The other is all black with white wing tips.

All so healthy and very active for 24 hours old.
