Forgive me for just stepping in, but no line is perfect. If anyone ever tries to tell you they never have any faults in their line, do not walk, but RUN away as fast as you can. Due to the breeds used to develop the Silver Pencilled Plymouth Rock I'm fairly confident you will never totally eradicate the issue, however getting the majority of the birds hatched to not have a specific issue is doable. That's why we as breeders hatch a ton and cull hard. If we could totally eliminate a fault in a line, there'd soon be no reason ever to cull.

Well I tried to get a few pictures of my Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks today but it was a muddy, rainy, windy day. Not a very good day for pictures at all. I will get some pictures posted when the weather is better. I am very happy to see the Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks getting more attention here lately and I hope it continues to grow.

the weather here wasn't good either. Terrible storms and tornado warnings and watches. Needless to say nothing got done today that needed to be done. Can't wait to see pictures

well we are finishing up a new coop then run for our SPPR. I have 1 cockerel and one rooster over 5 hens and they will be moving into a spacious 9x10 1 bedroom condo. It is an open air design.

My daughters three Bt BR from Horstman all got blue quality. The one hen got best SCCL class. we got to talk to the judge who said they are indeed nice and we should breed them. I almost gave away the cockerel due to a damaged comb. He said not to worry and he even gave him blue quality. He said to breed for higher/bigger tails on the cockerels but he is still young. She also used one of the pullets for showmanship and that girl was good and quiet!
