If you want hens to go broody, hatchery BRs are not the way to go (most of the time). Some do, most do not. None of my BR hens has ever gone broody, though a couple of them are the progeny of a hatchery BR hen who did brood often. Neither my hatchery BRs nor my other BRs have ever brooded chicks.

Anyone in the Knoxville Area of TN want a Black Rock Rooster who's in deep doodoo with me? He's been with his own private harem for awhile and has gotten big britches without another rooster to keep him behaving. Since I'd prefer blues anyway, his time here is limited although he's gorgeous. He's from Halo and quite a looker but he's headed for Freezer Camp at this rate. Rotten bugger.
