that's the last thing I need is some chicken coming home after the bars close and then the Rooster wouldn't shut up

I raise both large and bantam Buff Rocks. Good temperament on both. Males aren't overly aggressive with the females, and not aggressive at all toward humans that I can tell. The do lay well too. As far as your inquiry about whether they are noisy, not really. Very calm demeanor for the most part. I'll see if I can get some photos tonight or tomorrow.

Looks right to me, but the one in the box does look kinda light colored also. It may be just the angle of the picture though.

We have Buff Rocks and really like them. They lay super and are very easy to live with-just like all the Rocks are.I don't have any new pictures of them....mine free range and the sun bleaches them so much

I ended up with a blue rock pullet, splash rock pullet and a huge Blue Barred Rock cockerel. Anyone want him? He is young but massive and is a nice boy.

the girls are surprisingly small. How do Rocks compare in body size to RIR?

Does anyone have buff rock chicks/pullets for sale, or hatching eggs? I need a couple or a few pullets to go with this guy. . .

Here are some updated pictures of my 13 week old girl Joon. She is wonderful and I absolutely LOVE this breed!! Very friendly, and BRAVE. She is the one who chases my pit bull away from HER treats haha!

I don't know about the genes, but that roo looks like some pictures I saw of barred rock x buff orpington crosses. If you search here on BYC for that cross you'll find the pictures I'm talking about.
